Starworks Motorsport, comprised of the #2 Driver pairing of Enzo Potolicchio and Alex Popow and #8 squad of Mike Forest and Ryan Dalziel, is coming off the teams‟ best overall outing of the season at Barber Motorsports Park.

The team struggled at Barber all weekend before shinning at the end with Top-10‟s for both cars including a hard fought podium finish for the #8 team.

With the momentum swinging their way recently, and continued development of the teams‟ two Ford powered Riley Daytona Prototypes, the team really didn‟t need GRAND-AM‟s recent „Bounty‟ as incentive to take on the Ganassi squad that has dominated competition of late. Starworks is a team that amassed seven Top-5‟s during the 2010 racing season including three finishes of third or better. This season the #2 squad is coming off back-to-back Top-10‟s with the #8 team improving their results with each and every finish.
“I‟m really looking forward to VIR. It‟s one of my favorite race tracks and I have had some great results there in Daytona Prototypes” Dalziel continues; “We have had a rough start to our 2011 championship campaign but I truly feel after our podium at Barber that our season will turn around and I know we can be competitive at Virginia. We corrected some weaknesses in our car since Barber and the #8 Miracle Grout Shield/Jetset Magazine/Dynacor Media Group crew have been working long hours making sure we are at the top this weekend.” Dalziel is equally excited to show off the teams‟ new look on behalf of team sponsor Grout Shield; “We will have a fresh looking new paint scheme on the car and I‟m hoping it brings us good fortune this weekend.” Grout Shield is a specialty sealer additive that mixes with cement-based grout instead of water to provide a stain resistant grout installation without any additional sealing. Grout Shield is perfect for interior and exterior use.
Alex Popow has been busy honing his skills for the upcoming race as he explains; “I just arrived from Mexico where I was racing this past weekend in both the Formula 2000 and Seat Leon Supercup. In the F2000 I finished the weekend with a 2nd place podium, and in my two Seat Leon races I finished 1st and 2nd. It was a hard weekend, but working like that will certainly get me in shape for the upcoming Daytona Prototype race with Starworks in the #2 Duncan/ONA/IND/Taxand/Venezuela Ford Riley. I am looking forward to this weekend as it‟s the first track that both Enzo and I have already had time at, so one less obstacle to overcome.”
Learning new circuits on the season naturally puts them a step behind their competition each race weekend, but with the work of a strong team, and pointers from their team mates in the #8 have them operating at a very high caliber on the short season. Going into this weekend Popow currently leads the Jim Trueman Award standings followed closely by his teammate Potolicchio in second place. The Starworks team currently sits in 7th (#8) and 8th (#2) on the season in the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series Daytona Prototype Team Championship Points.
